memoQ: Free Download and Trial

Once you download and install memoQ, you automatically receive two licenses:

  • one for the 4Free edition without time limitation, and
  • one for the fully functional Network edition, limited to 45 days.

If you wish to use memoQ translator pro beyond 45 days, you need to purchase a license. You can do that through our website by clicking memoQ translator pro in the webshop.

Downloading and Installation

Before installing memoQ, please carefully read the Installation and Activation Guide first.

To install memoQ, extract the file you downloaded, then launch the setup.exe file. For more details, see the Installation and Activation Guide.

To start using memoQ within a few hours, download and read the Quick Start Guide. It is a short introduction to the most important functions of the tool.

  • Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003 operating system
  • Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 or higher
  • Microsoft Office 2000 or higher (for importing Microsoft Office files)

Migrating from a previous version of memoQ to a newer version

If you are using a new version of memoQ for the first time after using a previous version before, please update your licenses first by clicking Update Licenses Online under Help/Activation. This will enable you to work in the new version.

The resources used by memoQ 2.x are different from the resources used by memoQ 1.0. Although memoQ automatically performs migration to move the data between the two versions, and the migration is highly reliable, it is recommended to make a copy of all resources you used before. If you did not change the default locations under Tools/Options/Appearance and Locations, you should make a backup of the following folders:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MemoQ
  • C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\MemoQ
  • My Documents\My memoQ Projects

If multiple users on your computer used memoQ, please create a backup of all Application Data\memoQ folders.

It is very probable that memoQ will migrate its resources without any errors. However, should anything go wrong, you will be able to restore the previous version of memoQ by re-installing it and copying the backup files back into the original locations. Before installing a new version of memoQ, please uninstall the previously installed one.
